Kevin De Leon's RECALL...What's it all about?
The Kevin De León (KDL) Recall Effort is organized by CD 14 UNITED COALITION. A NON PARTISAN COALITION THAT REPRESENTS ALL POLITICAL PARTIES IN CD 14. We are a group of concerned neighbors, stakeholders, and community organizations in L.A. City Council District 14 (CD 14) who expect proper representation from our councilmember. Unfortunately, CD 14 has a history of career politicians using us as a waiting room for their next steps into their careers. This includes Kevin De León, who is merely using our city council seat to benefit himself with little regard for the needs of our community.
When Kevin de Leon was President of Pro Tempore of the California State Senate, he was one of the most powerful politicians in California. Many Californians, including the voters and residents of CD 14 grew to expect respectful representation from a seasoned politician. Instead, CD 14 has been let down by him from the start of his campaign when he moved into our district just in time to run for the vacant council seat. After he arrived as a carpetbagger, KDL immediately ran for Mayor of Los Angeles, while at the same time SUBMITTED AN APLICATION to run for California Lieutenant Governor as a 2026.
Now, Kevin de Leon and his political peers Nury Martinez, Gil Cedillo and Ron Hernandez were caught on an audio recording from a secret (and most likely illegal) meeting to discuss redistricting. These four were looking to move the boundary lines to include or exclude certain races and groups in their districts. This strategy would be considered "gerrymandering" and a potential violation of the Brown Act.
Councilman Kevin de Leon is now the poster child of the dysfunction and corruption that continues to rot the City Council and City Hall. He reinforces our lack of trust and confidence in the City Council and all of City Hall.
The CD 14 community deserves honesty, transparency, and a four-year commitment from a full-term councilperson who will not abandon us!
A message for Kevin De León:
There is NO confidence or trust in you, KDL. No healing can even begin to take place until YOU resign or are recalled! Then, and only then, can the rebuilding process take place. Resign or be RECALLED! There is NO third option!
